Come join us for an amazing heart-warming experience with our cute Blackness Valais sheep.
Sheep Sanctuary is based in the pretty hamlet of Tranmire in Whitby within the North Yorkshire moors.

The experiences are run in small groups, (max of 6 people) so that you get time to get up close and personal with some beautiful characters, giving you memories to last a lifetime. A connection with a sheep that you would not have expected.

All of our sheep are rescued and are safe for the rest of their lives. We are home to approx 300 sheep, along with cows, pigs, goats and more.
Some are shy, others are demanding of cuddles and attention.

Each session begins with a safety chat and continues with the stories behind some amazing “cloud puppies”
“Casanova” loves a hug and sometimes a kiss :0)

“Gogo” is a reformed naughty boy Haha

They love to go for a walk, pretty much like a dog. Be warned though, when the grass is growing often they take a lot of moving as its a walking all-you-can-eat buffet for them, but that’s ok as I (Sharon) can talk a lot when it comes to my sheep.

We walk around the Sanctuary grounds which takes roughly 1 hour and finishes in our barn, where you can cuddle the Valais and also visit our Sanctuary shop where we sell cruelty-free fleece rugs, felted sheep and trinkets from our much-loved rescues ~ to raise Sanctuary funds

And at the end, you can purchase teas coffees etc, along with homemade cakes, sandwiches and more (all vegan of course) in our quirky converted garage area.

Want to stay longer? Then why not book our huts on-site or a workshop class? So much more coming too.

We also run:
Wet felting workshops
Painting workshops
As well as on-site glamping in one of our quirky-themed huts

  • Please bring wellies as it's often muddy

  • Dogs are not allowed as our sheep get worried

  • Children must be accompanied by an adult and everyone requires a ticket each
  • Spectators will also need to purchase a ticket as they will also be part of the session

  • Please read the terms and conditions before booking
  • Sadly the walk is not suitable for people with walking disabilities or wheelchairs, but if it's the Valais sheep you love you can book a cuddle session that would take place in our barn, through a sheep hugging session.
