The Veegon Society
Welcome.
Thank you for joining us. I’d like to share a little about my journey and why I created this movement.
I was a vegetarian for 13 years before becoming curious about veganism. At first, I was shy and hesitant, quietly following vegan pages on social media as I learned and made the transition. What I saw, however, was often discouraging: arguments, criticism, and online hostility.
Rather than step back, I chose action. I left behind a successful dancewear business to dedicate my life to farm animal rescue. I purchased an old pub, transformed it into a vegan café and accommodation, and alongside it, I built an animal sanctuary. For 10 years, I lived as a committed vegan during a time when veganism was still new and less understood.
The sanctuary grew, but it wasn’t without challenges. I faced hostility from farmers, and at times, even from other vegans. This led me to adopt a more peaceful approach—one that prioritised not only my own wellbeing but also the safety of the animals I had rescued.
Over time, I realised how harmful judgment and shame can be to those who are curious about making kinder choices. Many people feel unwelcome or afraid to take the first step because of the pressure to be “perfect.”
When the sanctuary began to struggle financially, I introduced cruelty-free fleece from my beloved rescued sheep as a way to raise awareness and support. Though I expected criticism, the overwhelming response was positive, far outweighing any negativity. This confirmed what I had begun to believe: that there are millions of people who want to live more compassionately, but who need a safe, encouraging space to do so.
That is why this movement was born.
Here, you’ll find guidance, support, and inspiration—without judgement. This is a place where you can explore a kinder lifestyle in your own time and in your own way.
I warmly welcome you to join us on this journey. Together, we can make a difference.
